About us

History of Establishment

MMFI Albania Sh.P.K. has been created in 2019 and it’s a (100% owned) subsidiary business side of the “M & M Ivanaj Foundation Institut."

The Martin and Mirash Ivanaj Foundation of New York, and the M. & M. Ivanaj Foundation Institut of Tirana, Albania, are sister Foundations that share a common mission. Both are registered non-profit organizations in their respective countries and combine their work and efforts in order to best meet their stated goals and objectives.

Our Mission

To promote and advance the public interest in Albanian culture and education, within the country and abroad; encourage the dissemination of knowledge in Albania’s intellectual, juristic, and scientific traditions; nurture young innovative, entrepreneurial ideas into meaningful projects and eventual partnerships; nourish the education of the Albanian people by documenting its valiant history and propagate knowledge for the advancement of Albania in the free world.


Our Staff

Mimi Kotorri

Mimi Kotorri

Mimi Kotorri serves as Director of Projects and Business Development, where she leads strategic programs in education and culture, institutional partnerships, and funding and impact-expansion strategies. A multidisciplinary professional, she brings together architecture, cultural heritage, and nonprofit leadership, shaping projects that connect policy, practice, and people.

Trained as an architect and heritage-conservation specialist, her work spans architectural practice, cultural policy, academic engagement, and international heritage initiatives across Albania and Europe. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master’s degree in Architecture from Epoka University, as well as a Professional Master’s degree in the Restoration of Cultural Heritage Monuments from the Polytechnic University of Tirana. Her academic formation is complemented by international training programs in living heritage and sustainable development (SDG Academy), cultural-heritage transformation (RWTH Aachen University), digital transition strategies for cultural-heritage institutions (KU Leuven University), and European heritage interpretation.

Her professional experience includes coordinating architectural and heritage projects, contributing to the restoration of nationally significant monuments, and participating in long-term archaeological and heritage-management research through the Franco-Albanian mission The Drin Valley in the Middle Ages, led by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and Etleva Nallbani. Alongside this, she is actively engaged in academia as a guest lecturer and mentor in international youth and heritage programs.

Ms. Kotorri is an active member of Europa Nostra and part of the European Young Heritage Ambassadors Programme. Her European-level engagement includes leading and participating in international workshops and conferences, mentoring emerging professionals, and contributing as a member of the Selection Committee for the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards.

Erida Xhani

Erida Xhani serves as an Executive Management Assistant, bringing strong organizational and communication skills to the role. She has completed her studies in International Relations and Communications and is highly skilled in multitasking, time management, and meeting deadlines in fast-paced environments. Proactive and experienced, Erida maintains high standards for herself and approaches her responsibilities with dedication and precision.

In her role, she enhances executive effectiveness by providing comprehensive support across the organization’s operational functions. She possesses in-depth knowledge of the field, core programs, internal operations, and business planning processes, contributing to efficient and well-coordinated management.

Erida has pursued her education at leading academic institutions from an early age, including TIS Albania, Linden Hall (Pennsylvania), the International School of Athens, Webster University in Vienna, and New York University in Tirana.

Jublerta Nanaj

Jublerta Nanaj serves as a Project Planning Coordinator, where she plays a key role in monitoring project plans and procedures. Her responsibilities include ensuring that all planned activities are completed on time, within the approved budget, and in full compliance with project requirements, national legislation, and the employer’s internal policies.

Jublerta completed her studies in Jurisprudence at the European University of Tirana and holds a Master’s degree in Civil Law. During her academic years, she gained international experience in the United States through the “Work & Travel” program organized by Spirit Cultural Exchange. From 2015 to 2022, she was employed at the Consumer Protection Agency, an institution under the supervision of the Municipality of Tirana, where she contributed across several departments, including Consumer Counseling and Public Transport Services.

Ilira Siliqi

Ilira Siliqi serves as our Administrative Assistant and Archivist, bringing extensive expertise and nearly 40 years of professional experience to the role. She holds a degree in Economic Planning and has built a distinguished career across both public and private sectors, including institutions in public education, statistics, and private banking.

Ilira is highly regarded for her strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and her meticulous approach to handling, recording, and archiving documentation. Her precision and reliability ensure the accuracy and integrity of organizational records.

She is fluent in Albanian and Italian and has a strong working knowledge of English.

Elena Kodra

Elena Kodra brings over 20 years of experience in the cleaning, maintenance, and textile sectors. Throughout her career, she has worked in both public and private institutions, gaining broad and valuable professional expertise.

At our organization, Elena shares responsibility for the cleaning and maintenance of our premises alongside another staff member, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained working environment at all times.
